teen hearts
club volatile's first issue:
“you'd break your heart to make it bigger, so why not crack your skull when the mind swells.”
― richard siken, war of the foxes
as young children we were often told to "settle down" and "be quiet". The idea that we were better seen and not heard (or, rather heard but not listened to) has been etched into our skin, cries muffled because "you better not wake your father up."
no longer.
club volatile's first issue encourages creatives to draw on these feelings, of hurt, disbelief and rage. we may think with our heads but the wild experience of living is felt with our hearts.

it's heart over head, darling.
generation z is the future. this has become blaring clear, even for those who don't want to imagine that the young children who watched disney channel and drank oj before rushing off to school are fighting where other generations wouldn't. we refuse to inherit the litter left behind others.
we know that this year has been tough for everyone. at club volatile we want to state that we are 100% behind the BLM movement and are proud to see the young leaders emerging from this crises. but we also note that we should not have to be the ones on the front line. where are the adults supposed to protect us?
